JOHNSON CITY, TN – Three UNC Greensboro track athletes finished in the top five in their respective events to highlight the Spartans' effort in the final day of competition at the Niswonger Invitational at the Mini-Dome on the campus of East Tennessee State University.
Ramon Jobson-Brown led the way for UNCG with a second place finish in the men’s long jump, he recorded a 6.85m jump to finish just behind Lenoir-Rhyne’s Lamont Savage, who won the event with a 6.96 meter jump.
Nick Vaccaro also had good meet taking fourth place in the men’s 3000m with a time of 8:59.67. The Spartan had four athletes place in the men’s 5000m. Xavier Rutz took fourth place with a time of 15:14.97, while Josh Wyatt had a 12th place finish with a time of 15:22.51. Rounding out the Spartan finishers were Ryan Rodd who finished 22nd with a time of 15:50.82 and Justin Ruppe who earned a 31st place finish with a time of 16:19.65.
The UNCG women were equally impressive. Jess Weber led the way with an 11th place finish in the women’s mile, with a time of 5:28.53.
In the 3000 meters Kathy Oldham and Carly Magin finished in 19th and 20th place with times of 11:39.86 and 11:44.63, respectively. Courtney Fawcett came in 26th place with a time of 12:02.97.
Naomi D'Amours and Tessa Dispenette, rounded out the field in the 5000m event. Dispenette finished in 20th place with a time of 19:40.45, while D’Amours finished in 23rd place with a time of 19:48.90.
