Men's Tennis Closes Out 2012 Fall Season at Winthrop Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's tennis program will end the 2012 fall season at the Winthrop Fall Invitational Nov. 2 through Nov. 4, in Rock Hill, S.C.
"It would be nice to finish with our last tournament strongly and leave for the break with some confidence," said head coach Thomas Mozur. "The guys have put a ton of effort into their games and we've worked very hard. It would be a nice reward to have some good results. The draws look pretty competitive so we have some winnable matches."
The teams competing in the tournament include host Winthrop, Campbell, Georgia State, South Carolina, Tennessee Tech, Asheville, Presbyterian College, Gardner-Webb and UNCG.
Freshmen, Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista), Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla. / Lakeland), William Albright (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley), James Flynn (Plantation, Fla. / American Heritage), sophomore Cameron Smith (Jamestown, N.C. / Ragsdale) and junior Ahmet Sarioglu (Ankara, Turkey / METU Development Foundation) will represent the Spartans this weekend.
The Blue and Gold are currently 32-45 in singles and 23-14 in doubles this fall.
Play at the Winthrop Fall Invitational will begin Friday, Nov. 2.
