Men's Tennis Set for USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) and freshman James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) will represent the UNCG men's tennis team at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships Oct. 18-22 at the Cary Tennis Center.

"I am excited to take Randy and Jimmy Dougherty to the regional tournament this week," said head coach Thomas Mozur.  "I truly think that they can do some damage in the doubles draws if they play to their potential."

Dougherty is 4-5 in singles during the fall season, while Phillips is 3-6 in singles. The duo have combined to lead the team with an 8-2 record in doubles.

Schools from North Carolina and South Carolina will be competing in the regional. Winners of the tournament will advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., from Nov. 8-11.
