WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshman James Flynn (Plantation, Fla. / American Heritage) made it to the final round of the singles D1 flight in consolation with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win against Liberty's Guillem Secanel on the second day of the Wake Forest Invitational, Saturday. 

Classmate James Dougherty (Melbourne, Australia) won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 against Thomas Weigel from NCSU, before falling to UNCW's Chris Cooprider, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. 

Freshman Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla. / Park Vista) followed his 6-3, 6-2 loss to Furman's Joel Cook in consolation by a 3-1, ret. win placing him in the final round in the 13^th place bracket. 

Sophomore Randy Phillips (Snellville, Ga. / Brookwood) fought hard in semifinals, but lost to NCSU's Dave Thompson, 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). 

Freshmen William Albright (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) and Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla. / Lakeland) both lost in the C flights consolation quarterfinal rounds, placing them in the 13^th place bracket to dual each other. Mack won 6-1, 6-4 against Albright.

Sophomore Cameron Smith (Jamestown, N.C. / Ragsdale) picked up a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win against Ethan Kallick from Davidson, but lost in the semifinal round to Tim Schweig from ODU, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. 

In doubles play, Dougherty and Phillips teamed up to beat Longwood's Harry Kelleher and Edward Becker, 8-4 in the 13^th place bracket of A doubles.

Smith and Murray fell in a tiebreaking 9-8 (7-3) to UNCW's Pedro Mol and Zach Hublitz, while Albright and junior Jimmy Roueche (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) lost 8-2 to Shea Thomas and Egon Samaii from Liberty.

Play at the Wake Forest Invitational will conclude Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
