CHARLESTON, S.C. – UNCG's men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over The Citadel at the Earle Tennis Center on Thursday to pick up its second Southern Conference win of the season.

The Spartans (5-6, 2-0 SoCon) handed the Bulldogs (4-6, 0-2 SoCon) their fourth straight loss.

In doubles, Ahmet Sarioglu and Orcun Seyrek topped David Orces and Peter Bleach at No. 1, 8-2. Chanon Varapongsittikul and Randy Phillips earned an 8-4 win over James Atkinson and Dillon Berkabile at No. 2, while The Citadel picked up its only win of the day when Alex Howle and Elliott Sperr beat Cameron Smith and Jimmy Roueche 8-2 at No. 3.

UNCG took all six singles matches in straight sets.

Seyrek downed Orces at No. 1, 6-0, 6-3, and Sarioglu topped Josh Cook by a 6-0, 6-1 count at No. 2. At No. 3, Varapongsittikul dropped Bleach, 6-0, 6-1, while Phillips topped Berkabile by a 6-3, 6-0 score at No. 4.

Smith rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Atkinson at No. 5 and Roueche completed the sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Sperr at No. 6.

UNCG returns to action when it hosts Chattanooga at the UNCG Tennis Courts on Sunday at noon.
