GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's men's tennis
team will face a 22-match regular-season spring schedule, coach
Thomas Mozur announced Wednesday.
The Spartans will open the 2012 campaign against Tennessee Tech in
Memphis, Tenn., on Jan. 28 and will face Memphis the following
day.
UNCG will host its first two home matches at the Piedmont Indoor
Tennis Center, welcoming Gardner-Webb on Feb. 4 and UNC Asheville
on Feb. 5.
The Spartans then head up to Raleigh, N.C., for a contest at NC
State on Feb. 12 before returning home for a three-match homestand
at the UNCG Tennis Courts. UNCG will host Charlotte (Feb. 17),
Belmont (Feb. 24) and Richmond (Feb. 26) before embarking on a
season-high four-match road swing.
UNCG will kick off the road trip at Winthrop on March 1 and head
to Georgia Southern on March 4 to open Southern Conference play.
Dates at Coastal Carolina (March 6) and The Citadel (March 8)
follow.
Chattanooga comes to Greensboro for a March 11 match before the
Spartans are idle for nearly a week before a March 17 home bout
against Davidson.
UNCG will step back out of conference to play at East Carolina on
March 21, followed by dates at Furman (March 23) and Wofford (March
24).
The Spartans will host Appalachian State on March 31 before a
grueling three-match stretch to finish league play. UNCG will face
the defending SoCon regular-season co-champions in consecutive
contests, hosting College of Charleston on April 1 before making
the short trip to Elon on April 4.
UNCG hosts its final home match and concludes league play April 7
against defending SoCon tournament champion Samford.
UNCG closes the regular season at Campbell on April 14 before
heading to Charleston, S.C., for the SoCon tournament, April 19-22.
The Spartans won the 2010 tournament in Charleston, earning their
first-ever NCAA tournament bid.
