SKILLMAN, N.J. – UNCG junior Orcun Seyrek is the 11th-ranked singles player in the Carolina Regional in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
Seyrek, who went 8-2 in the fall, is a two-time All-SoCon performer in singles and was the league's player of the year and freshman of the year in 2008-09.
The Istanbul, Turkey, native went 28-6 as a sophomore last season, setting a school record for single-season singles wins.
Seyrek is the highest-ranked SoCon singles player in the region. Only College of Charleston's Kyle Parker also appears in the Carolina Regional singles rankings, checking in at No. 20.
UNCG opens the spring portion of the schedule when it hosts Winthrop at the Starmount Forest Country Club Indoor Courts on Saturday at 4 p.m.
