Rain shortens the second day at UNCG Fall Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rain showers cut the second day of play short at the UNCG Men's Tennis Fall Invitational on Saturday.
The teams completed two rounds of doubles play in the morning, but rain moved in around 1:30 p.m., suspending 12 singles matches.
UNCG's Orcun Seyrek and Chanon Varapongsittikul advanced to the finals in Flight A doubles with a win over Alex Chen and Justin Kirstein, 9-7. That was one of two wins on the morning for the top-seeded duo.
Teammates Timion Meijs and Zach Reece advanced to the Flight B doubles finals, as well, with a pair of wins on Saturday morning. They topped Joseph Proctor and John Taylor, 8-4, then beat Ryan Spencer and Justin Suesserman by an identical 8-4 score.
Play will resume on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. beginning with the suspended singles matches.
