CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Orcun Seyrek's bid for an ITA Regional crown ended Sunday when he lost in the quarterfinal round at the ITA Carolinas Regional on the North Carolina campus.
Seyrek, a sophomore from Istanbul, Turkey, topped Wake Forest's Danny Kreyman in three sets to open the day, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. It was Seyrek's third consecutive three-set win at the regional.
However, that run ended in the quarterfinal round as Seyrek, seeded eighth, fell to top-seeded Clay Donato of North Carolina. Donato won the opening set 7-6, including 12-10 in the tie-breaker, and then wrapped-up a semifinal slot in the second set, 6-1.
The Spartans will close out their fall slate at the UNCW Invitational next weekend.
