GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro got three-set wins by Arsel Kumdereli and Yaroslav Litus to hold off Davidson and record its 13th straight win at home by a 5-2 score in Southern Conference men's tennis action Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans stayed atop the Southern Conference standings at 6-0 and raised their mark to 13-3 on the season. UNCG is a perfect 10-0 at home this year and has now won 13 straight at home.
Holding a 3-2 lead, the No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches went to a third set to decide the match. Kumdereli rallied to top Eric Noble, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2 singles, while Litus also came back from an early deficit to top Chris Mark, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, including a 7-5 score in the decisive tiebreaker.
In the process, Orcun Seyrek extended his personal winning streak to 14 straight singles matches when he topped Joe Schafer in straight sets, 6-1 and 7-6, with a 7-1 score in the tiebreaker. Seyrek, the 2009 SoCon Freshman and Player of the Year, is now 23-4 overall this season and 14-1 this spring.
The Spartans also got a singles win from Jacob Wright at No. 3 singles and won two of the three doubles matches to claim that point, as well.
UNCG returns to action on Tuesday at home with its winning streak at 13 straight, where it will host Appalachian State. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
