UNCG concludes play at Southern Intercollegiate Championships

ATHENS, Ga. -- Weather continued to plague play at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday and UNCG decided to conclude its play after another shuffling of the schedule.

Three teams had already withdrawn early in the day after weather issues early on Saturday kept play indoors, slowing the schedule for the second straight day. Play moved outside briefly on Saturday, but then more weather problems forced the tournament back inside the Hopkins Indoor Facility and moved matches further back in the schedule. The Spartans decided at that point to withdraw from the tournament and return to Greensboro.

Orcun Seyrek won his only singles match of the weekend, picking up a win late Friday night. That was the only singles match the Spartans got to play, however, due to the extended delays. Seyrek lost his doubles match with Arsel Kumdereli on Saturday morning, as did William John and Timion Meijs.

Division II singles will continue at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility

The last quarter of Division II Singles (Lines 97-128) of the draw will be played tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m.

*Due to rain, Division I singles will be canceled for Saturday but will resume on Sunday.
*Play is currently underway at Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facilty.
*Play began with Division II doubles followed Division I singles
*Division I doubles is canceled for Saturday.
*10-point tiebreak in lieu of 3rd set
*Winthrop, Davidson, UNCG and Wofford have withdrawn from the tournament.
