UNCG rallies for 4-3 win over Appalachian State

BOONE, NC – UNC Greensboro won three three-set matches to rally from a 3-1 deficit and win a five-hour men's tennis marathon over Southern Conference rival Appalachian State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon.

Orcun Seyrek, Andrey Bubnov and Arsel Kumdereli all rallied after dropping the second set to win decisive third sets to complete a monstrous rally and keep the Spartans perfect at 5-0 in conference play. UNCG is now 10-4 overall, its best season since 2002.

Seyrek defeated Bobby Lake at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 in the clincher. Wins by Bubnov over Peter Jacobs, 6-0, 3-6, 6-0, and Kumdereli over Trent Constance, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. tied the match at 3-3. Yaroslav Litus had UNCG's other singles win, a straight-set victory over Lee Floyd.

The Spartans are tied with Elon and Furman atop the conference standings at 5-0. UNCG returns to action on Thursday at Gardner-Webb before returning home next weekend to face Wofford and Furman.
