Seyrek earns big win with 20th, but UNCG falls to Furman

GREENSBORO, NC – Orcun Seyrek won his 20th match of the season in grand fashion, but UNC Greensboro lost to Furman, 6-1, to put a serious damper on its hopes for a Southern Conference men's tennis title.

Orcun Seyrek won his 20th match of the year and his second of the year over a ranked opponent, but UNCG lost to Furman, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon.

Seyrek defeated Andy Juc, ranked No. 116 in the nation by ITA, 6-3 and 6-4, for UNCG's lone point of the afternoon. Seyrek is now 20-3 on the season in making his case for Southern Conference Freshman of the Year. Seyrek is a perfect 7-0 in league play as UNCG's No. 1 singles players.

The Paladins won a pair of three setters to keep the Spartans from getting too close in earning the victory and preserving their lead in the SoCon standings.

UNCG returns to action on Wednesday, stepping out of conference to visit Charlotte for a 2:30 pm match.
