COLUMBIA, S.C. –UNC Greensboro wrapped up action Sunday at the USC Fall Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
In Saturday’s action, Andrey Bubnov lost in the round of 16 to fourth-seeded Vincius Bortolatto of Winthrop, 7-6 and 6-1. Arsel Kumdereli won his first consolation bracket match over Andrew Veeder of Gardner-Webb, 3-6, 6-0 and 7-6, before falling to Arkansas’ Chris Nott in the quarterfinal round, 6-1 and 6-1. Martin Redelinghuys lost to Caleb Barnes of Erskine in a first round consolation bracket match, 7-5 and 6-2.
William John and David Lupinetti faced each other in a first round consolation bracket match with John winning 6-2 and 6-3. John topped Andrew Lee in the quarterfinal round, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0, with a 10-6 score in the tiebreaker, on Saturday. However, John withdrew due to injury on Sunday.
Taylor Befus won his first round consolation bracket match on Saturday, 6-1 and 6-2, over Presbyterian’s Mark Cannatelli. However, he lost in the quarterfinal round to Damien Cordesse of Lander University, 6-3 and 6-3. Will Adeimy lost his opening round match in the consolation bracket, falling to Presbyterian’s Brad Luciuk, 6-4 and 6-3.
UNCG begins play at the ITA Regional in Chapel Hill, NC on Wednesday.
