Three singes, two doubles tandems advance for UNCG at Baras Invitational
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – UNC Greensboro will still have three players alive in singles action and two duos in doubles action when the semifinals and finals of the main and consolation brackets are played Sunday at the UTC Baras Fall Men’s Tennis Invitational.
William John and Martin Redelinghuys advanced to the consolation bracket semifinals in Flight B with wins on Saturday. After an early round bye, Redelinghuys handled Juan Sea from Lee College, 6-0 and 6-1. John, a sophomore from Mt. Airy, NC, had to win twice on Saturday, defeating Western Kentucky’s Currie Martin and Ball State’s David Locandro by identical 6-3, 6-4 scores. The two are in opposite semifinals and could meet in Sunday afternoon’s final.
William Adeimy earned a spot in Sunday’s Flight C final with wins over Vadim Ivanis of Eastern Kentucky and Ball State’s Gary Fuller. Adeimy, a sophomore from Norcross, GA, will team with Taylor Befus in the Flight B Main Draw final after a pair of wins late last night another on Saturday.
John and Andrew Bubnov will also play in the Flight A consolation bracket final after defeating David Locandro and Matt Mabry of Ball State on Saturday.
Sunday’s action gets underway at 10:30 am.
