GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro’s Andrey Bubnov and Taylor Befus picked up wins in singles action, but the Spartans dropped a rain-shortened 4-2 decision to Longwood on Sunday afternoon.
Bubnov picked up a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, topping Brandon Lindsley, 6-1 and 6-2. Befus’ win came at No. 5 singles in a three-set thriller. Befus lost the first set to Mani Barajas-Alexander, 6-3, but rallied to win the second set 6-1 and then pulled out the decisive third, 7-5.
However, the Lancers won the other four singles matches, including two three-set matches, to pick up the victory. The doubles’ pro-sets were not played due to impending rain.
UNCG returns to action next Saturday when the Spartans face Charlotte in Greensboro beginning at 11 am.
