Gardner-Webb tops UNCG, 4-3
GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro won three singles matches in straight sets, but it wasn’t quite enough as Gardner-Webb topped the Spartans, 4-3, in men’s tennis action Saturday afternoon.
Rafael Altmeyer pulled out a three-set win over Taylor Befus at No. 5 singles to close out the win. After losing the first set, Befus rallied to win the second, 7-5. However, Altmeyer came back to win the deciding set, 6-3, and clinch the victory.
UNCG got wins from Arsel Kumdereli, Yaroslav Litus and William John at Nos, 2, 3 and 4 singles. Kumdereli topped Andrew Veeder, 6-1 and 6-2, while Litus handled Carlos Quijano, 6-3 and 6-1. John also won over Grant VanRensburg by a pair of 6-4 scores.
UNCG returns to action on Friday when it hosts High Point at 2 pm.
