ANNAPOLIS, MD – UNC Greensboro dropped a pair of men’s tennis matches over the weekend in the Capitol Region, falling to No. 75 George Washington and Navy by identical 7-0 scores.
Late Saturday night, the Spartans had opportunities to top the 75th-ranked Colonials. Four of the six singles matches went three sets, giving the Spartans the chance to knock off George Washington.
Andrey Bubnov won the opening set in both of his matches over the weekend. Saturday night, he won the first set, 6-4, against Mustafa Gencsoy before dropping the next two by scored of 6-0 and 6-2. On Sunday, He topped Navy’s Nate Nelms in the opening set, 7-5, but dropped the second set 6-4 and a third-set 10-point tiebreaker, 10-5.
UNCG returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Gardner-Webb. The start time is set for 2 pm.
