CHARLESTON, SC – UNC Greensboro’s Andrey Bubnov was named to the All-Southern Conference second team on Thursday when the league’s men’s tennis honors were announced.
The Southern Conference all-conference selections consist of two teams. The first team is made-up of the Top 6 vote-getters. Then, coaches vote for remaining players in the position in which they play during the season for second team selection.
Bubnov, a sophomore from Belgorod, Russia, is the first UNCG singles player to earn all-conference honors since 2001. He finished the season 12-18 overall, including five losses in three sets. UNCG’s No. 1 singles player throughout the season, he finished conference play 3-6.
College of Charleston’s Or Deckel was named the Player of the Year. Wofford’s George Kernodle was the Freshman of the Year, while Elon’s Mike Leonard was the Coach of the Year.
UNCG wrapped up its season on Thursday, losing to Davidson in the SoCon Tournament’s opening round, 4-2.
