Three-set thriller gives UNCG 4-3 win over Navy

GREENSBORO, NC – Arsel Kumdereli defeated Adrian Lai in a three-set thriller to give UNC Greensboro a 4-3 win over Navy in men’s tennis action Friday afternoon.

Kumdereli won the first set, 7-5, before Lai evened things up by winning the second set 6-3. Kumdereli came back to win the decisive set, 7-5, and give UNCG’s its fourth win of the season (4-5). 

Also earning straight-set singles wins were Andrey Bubnov, Martin Redelinghuys and Jason Steinhorn. However, UNCG’s doubles duo of Bubnoy and Kumdereli lost their proset, 8-3, as Navy won two of three doubles matches. Bubnov and Kumdereli are currently ranked No. 48 in the country.

UNCG will return to action on Sunday when it visits Georgia Southern for a Southern Conference match-up.
