HIGH POINT, NC – Ian Conchar pulled out a thrilling three-set win at No. 4 singles to break a 3-3 tie and give UNC Greensboro its first win of the spring season, 4-3, over High Point in men’s tennis action Wednesday afternoon.
Conchar defeated Hendi Mangin, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 to wrap up the win. Five of the six singles’ matches went to a third set. UNCG’s top two singles players each earned three-set wins. Andrey Bubnov rallied from a set down to defeat Jack Notton, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Martin Redelinghuys also rallied from a set down and survived a second-set tiebreaker to defeat Ben Deloume, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2.
UNCG also won the doubles point as Bubnov and Arsel Kumdereli won 9-8 at No. 1 doubles and Jason Steinhorn and Taylor Befus came away with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
UNCG (1-2) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Winston-Salem State at 2:30 pm.
