Conchar falls in consolation semifinals at UTC/Baras Collegiate

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Ian Conchar fell in three sets to Western Kentucky's Franco Serra on Sunday at the UTC/Baras Collegiate Fall Classic.

Conchar won the first set, 6-0, and then lost the second set by a 6-1 score. Serra then won the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-4, to advance to the consolation bracket finals.

Yesterday, Marc Ladoucer and Ryan Lewis both reached the quarterfinals of their respective singles groups to highlight UNCG’s competition in the 2005 UTC/Baras Collegiate


Ladoucer dropped his quarterfinal match to Chattanooga’s Mark Fynn 7-6, 7-6 in men’s A singles.  Lewis upended Hunter Murray of Murray State 6-2, 6-3 in B singles before dropping a quarterfinal match 6-2, 6-2 to Chattanooga’s Badr Bouabdellah.

Also in men’s B singles competition, Conchar lost 6-0, 6-1 to James Bryce of Samford.  Conchar then went on to beat Western Kentucky’s Andy True 6-2, 6-3 in the consolation bracket to advance to Sunday's semifinal.

Also on Saturday, in men’s C singles, Baxter Hufham defeated Samford’s John Crist 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the opening round, but fell to Northern Alabama’s Michael O’Brien 6-1, 6-2 in the quarters.

In men’s A doubles action on Saturday, Ladoucer and Lewis downed Bryce and Johnny Griffee of Samford 8-6 before falling to Murray State’s Nicholas Ksiezopolski and Yuri Pompeu 8-2 Saturday evening in a quarterfinal match.

Conchar and Austin Wilty fell to Western Kentucky’s Serra and David Bowman 8-6 in their men’s B doubles match.
