CHARLESTON, SC – Ryan Lewis earned a straight-set win over Andrew Taylor at No. 5 singles, but it wasn’t enough as UNC Greensboro was eliminated from the 2006 Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Championship with a 4-1 loss to Appalachian State on Thursday afternoon.
Lewis defeated Taylor, 6-0 and 7-5, to earn UNCG its only point of the afternoon. The seventh-seeded Mountaineers won two of the three doubles’ pro-sets and two singles matches with a third stopped due to injury.
Appalachian State advanced to face second-seeded Furman at 12:30 pm Friday.
