GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro sophomore Martin Redelinghuys picked up his fifth consecutive win in singles action, but that was UNCG’s only point of the afternoon as Charlotte defeated the Spartans, 6-1, in men’s tennis action on Thursday afternoon.
Redelinghuys, a native of Cape Town, South Africa who transferred to UNCG from UNLV prior to the spring semester, earned his fifth straight win by turning away Ryan Johnson in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2. Redelinghuys had won his three previous matches in decisive third sets.
The Spartans also won one of the three doubles matches, which Redelinghuys had a hand in. He teamed up with Marc Ladouceur to defeated Johnson and Felix Berhoerster in a doubles pro-set, 8-7, 10-6 in the tie-breaker.
UNCG returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Furman at 1 pm.
