UNCG drops men's tennis doubleheader
COLLEGE PARK, MD – UNC Greensboro dropped both ends of a men’s tennis doubleheader on Saturday, falling to American and Maryland by identical 7-0 scores.
UNCG’s Ian Conchar was a bright spot for the Spartans, forcing third-set tiebreakers in both of his matches. He won the first set against American’s Jason Harris, only to lose the second set and drop the one-game tie-breaker, 10-7. In the afternoon against Maryland’s Michael Coleman, Conchar lost the first set, 4-6, but rallied to win the second, 6-3. He lost the one-game tie-breaker, however, 10-3.
"I am proud of my guys and their attitudes on the court," said UNCG coach Thomas Mozur. "They are showing great signs of improvement and I think we are close to getting over the hump. We’ve got a bunch of guys who are right there - right on the verge of winning. I think it will only take us to get one under our belts."
UNCG is slated to take on Navy on Sunday in Annapolis, MD.
