Hakan Ilhan Named Blue Chip Performer
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior forward Hakan Ilhan (Stuttgart, Germany/Univ. of Stuttgart) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina after leading the Spartans to a 2-0 start in Southern Conference action. The Blue Chip Performer is chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run through the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.
Ilhan, who was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, played a role in all five of the Spartans' goals in their victories over Davidson and Appalachian State. He scored six points on the week, posting four assists and scoring a goal. He tied the UNCG single-game record for assists in a game, handing out four helpers in the first half against Davidson. His four assists are a single-game record for UNCG in the NCAA Division I era.
Ilhan and the Spartans return to action Tuesday night as they host Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
