Brian Graham named SoCon Men's Soccer Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG freshman forward Brian Graham was named the Southern Conference's Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Tuesday for his outstanding performance in the Spartans' two wins last week.

In two matches last week, Graham totaled four goals and two assists to help UNCG move up in the SoCon standings. Against defending league-champion Wofford on Tuesday, Graham recorded a hat trick while assisting on the fourth goal in UNCG's 4-2 win. His first goal was a 25-yard, unassisted blast in the 29th minute to give UNCG a 1-0 lead. After Wofford tied the match late in the second half, Graham scored twice in an 80-second span to seal the win.

Graham's seven-point night was UNCG's first since Oct. 12, 1999, when current MLS star Alejandro Moreno had four goals for an eight-point day in a win over The Citadel.

Against Gardner-Webb Saturday, the native of Bowie, Md., continued his torrid pace with another goal and an assist in the 4-1 nonconference win.

UNCG returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Appalachian State in SoCon match at 7 p.m. Senior Night festivities will be held prior to the match.
