+ The Spartans hit the road to take on backyard rival High Point on Tuesday night. The match will be televised on the Spanish-programming channel Estrella-TV in the Triad (Time Warner Cable 131 / Digital Channel 20.3).
+ UNCG had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped on Saturday night with a 2-1 loss to Wake Forest in front of a crowd of 3,494 – the fourth-largest crowd in school history and the largest for a Spartan soccer game at UNCG Soccer Stadium since 1991.
+ UNCG holds an 18-4-2 advantage over the Panthers in the all-time series. High Point's last win in the series came in 1977. The Spartans have won the last 12 meetings , including all seven from 2002-2008 when the series resumed after a long hiatus. UNCG's last three wins in the series have come by shutout.
+ HPU is coming off a 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb in their Big South opener. High Point easily defeated the Bulldogs in large part thanks to the contributions of senior Scott Rojo and sophomore Shawn Sloan. Rojo had a goal and an HPU Division I record three assists while Sloan scored twice and dished out an assist.
+ UNCG is coming off a 2-1 loss to Wake Forest where the Spartans outplayed the Demon Deacons for most of the night, but weren't able to finish several great scoring chances. UNCG had a 21-10 advantage in shots, but could only manage a penalty kick by Will Mack on the scoreboard.
+ Rojo leads the Panthers in scoring with nine points (2g, 5a), while Karo Okiomah leads in goals with four (4g, 0a). High Point has scored 14 goals in its first seven matches of the season. Michael Chesler is the starting goalkeeper for High Point. He has a 0.98 GAA with four shutouts.
+ Hakan Ilhan leads UNCG in scoring with six points (2g, 2a). He and Eli Garner each have two goals to lead UNCG this season. Peyton Ford has played all 740 minutes in goal this season with a 1.34 GAA. He has two shutouts this year.
