UNCG faces Richmond looking to get back in win column

+ UNCG closes out its three-match roadswing when it faces Richmond in the first match of Sunday's doubleheader at the Elon Classic. Elon hosts Jacksonville in the second match of the afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m.
+ UNCG is coming off a 2-1 loss to Jacksonville on Friday night. The Dolphins scored twice in the first 28 minutes of the match as UNCG dug itself an early hole for the second straight outing. The Spartans got on the board in the 74th minute when Eli Garner scored on a penalty kick. But the Spartans could not get the equalizer and lost their second straight. UNCG outshot the Dolphins on the night, 14-9.
+ Richmond suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night, falling to Elon, 4-0. The Spiders had opened the season with a 3-2 double-overtime win over Longwood and a 1-1 tie against Campbell, both at home. Elon scored three goals in a 13-minute span – twice in the final seven of the first half and another tally early in the second half – to bust the game open. Elon outshot the Spiders 18-2.
+ UNCG and Richmond will be meeting for the first time in 12 years. UNCG leads the all-time series, 2-1-1. UNCG won the first-ever meeting in 1995, 5-2, and at home in 1996, 2-1. Richmond won at home in 1997, 1-0, and the teams played a scoreless tie in 1998.
+ UNCG will face William & Mary on Wednesday to open a four-match homestand. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be shown on Spartan All Access.
