UNCG takes a much shorter trip this weekend to continue its three-match road trip. After its longest regular season trip in 18 years last weekend to play Creighton, the Spartans take the 24-mile trek up to Elon for the Elon Classic. UNCG will face Jacksonville in Friday's first game, followed by tourney host Elon and Richmond at 7:30 p.m.

UNCG leads the all-time series against the Dolphins, 2-0-0. The teams last met in the season-opener in 2006, where UNCG won at home by a 4-2 score. The other meeting came back in 1991, a 3-1 UNCG win in Charlotte.

Jacksonville is 2-1-0 on the year, coming away with a pair of 2-1 overtime wins in their last two outings. After losing at Central Florida in the season-opener, 5-0, the Dolphins defeated Florida Atlantic at home last Friday and then topped Georgia Southern at home on Tuesday night, 2-1.

Jacksonville's Darko Karamatic has three of Jacksonville's four goals on the season, including overtime game-winning tallies in the last two matches. He was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Tuesday. Daniele Campailla has Jacksonville's other goal on the year.

UNCG lost at Creighton in its last outing, 4-0. The Spartans found themselves down a pair of goals quickly in the match and never quite got on track. Creighton scored twice in the first 15:11. For the night, Creighton had a 12-9 advantage in shots.

The Spartans began the opener with seven of their 11 players being new faces this season. Of the 14 players that played in the game, UNCG had nine new faces in all. The Spartans return just nine players from the 2009 roster.

UNCG will face Richmond at 12 noon Sunday in the Elon Classic before returning home next Wednesday to face William & Mary to open a four-match homestand.
