GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro interim men's soccer coach Justin Maullin announced his squad's 2010 slate of games on Tuedsay, featuring nine regular-season home dates and a tough preseason and early nonconference slate.

The Spartans will open the year with three consecutive matches against NCAA tournament teams – two in the preseason and a third to open the regular campaign. UNCG will be tested early as five of its first seven preseason and regular-season matches will be against teams that had Top 40 RPI rankings last season.

On successive Saturdays, UNCG will visit Duke for an exhibition match Aug. 21 and host North Carolina for an exhibition Aug. 28. UNCG will then host Charlotte on Wednesday, Sept. 1 to open the regular season.

UNCG will take to the road for three consecutive matches, beginning with a trip to Creighton – a team that narrowly missed the postseason last year with an RPI ranking of 35. The Spartans will then face Jacksonville and Richmond in the Elon Tournament on Sept. 10 and 12.

The Spartans return home for another test, facing William & Mary on Sept. 15, which was also on the NCAA Tournament bubble last November and had an RPI ranking of 36. That match begins a four-match homestand that concludes on Homecoming night against Wake Forest on Sept. 25.

UNCG opens Southern Conference play at home this coming season, facing backyard-rival Elon on Oct. 2, and will also host College of Charleston, defending champion Wofford, and Appalachian State in league play.

The Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship format will move back to all eight teams in 2010. Opening-round matches will be played at the top four seeds on September 6. The winners of those matches will advance to play in Charleston, S.C., on November 12 and 14.

Season tickets for UNCG men's soccer will go on sale in July.
