GREENSBORO, N.C. – Single-game tickets for the 2009 UNCG men's and women's soccer season went on sale Tuesday, including online purchasing through UNCGSpartans.com.
The UNCG men's soccer team, coming off of its fourth NCAA Tournament Round of 16 appearance in the last five years, will play 10 regular season home games and an exhibition match against Lees-McRae on August 22. The regular season home opener will be a part of the annual UNCG Kickoff Classic. That will be on September 11 against Marshall at 7:30 pm.
The UNCG women's soccer squad will kick off the 2009 regular season by hosting perennial power Wake Forest on Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. UNCG, which went 16-4-3 in 2008, including its third straight undefeated Southern Conference slate at 10-0-1, opens the season with three straight ACC teams, all of which took part in postseason play. The Spartans will face six teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season, including defending national champion North Carolina and Duke in Chapel Hill. UNCG then comes home to face Stanford, making it four consecutive opponents that finished in the Top 25 last season to open this year's campaign.
The university launched on-line ticket sales last season through its athletics Web site, UNCGSpartans.com, in a partnership with Etix. Men's and women's soccer tickets this season are available on a single-game basis at the price of $5 for adults and $3 for youth (age 12 and under). Single-game tickets may also be purchased in-person at the UNCG athletics ticket office or by calling the office at (336) 334-3250.
