BALTIMORE, MD – The NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament second round contest between UNC Greensboro and Loyola (MD) slated for Tuesday has been moved to 6 pm.
The original bracket had the game time listed for 1 pm, but Loyola officials have asked for the game time to be shifted to 6 pm.
The Spartans (9-11-2) knocked off Duke, 2-0, Friday night to earn a second round bid. UNCG is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years, having won at least one game in each of those appearances. The Spartans earned a trip to the round of 16 in each of three previous trips (2004, 2005 and 2006).
UNCG became the sixth team in 50 years of NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament history to make the tourney with a sub-.500 record and just the third to win an opening round game when it beat the Blue Devils on Friday night. Tebatso Manyama had an goal and an assist to lead the offense, while Nate Berry had five saves for his fourth shutout of the year.
Loyola-MD (18-1-1), the No. 9 seed in the tournament, will be making its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Greyhounds beat Liberty last year at home in the first round of the tournament, 2-0, before falling in the second round to Maryland on penalty kicks at College Park.
Loyola went 17-0-1 in the regular season, going undefeated for the first time since 1986. The Greyhounds claimed their second consecutive MAAC regular-season title, and garnered the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Fairfield snapped their national-best 27-match unbeaten streak in the MAAC last Sunday with a 1-0 setback.
