SPARTANBURG, SC – Junior forward Thomas Campbell has been named the Southern Conference’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for his outstanding play in UNCG’s two matches last week.
Campbell, a native of Middletown, NJ, had seven points (3g, 1a) in UNCG’s two matches last week. He began the week with UNCG’s only goal in a 2-1 loss to No. 22-ranked Furman on Wednesday night, a blast from 30 yards out. He followed that up with a five-point game, tallying a pair of goals and an assist in UNCG’s 4-0 win over Wofford on Saturday night. The assist came on Tebatso Manyama’s goal just 1:11 into the match, which set the tone for UNCG.
The seven-point week gave Campbell the team lead in scoring. He now has 12 points on the season (5g, 2a), tying for the team lead in goals with Jokull Elisabetarson at five.
The Spartans (5-4-2, 1-2-0) open a five-game homestand on Tuesday night when they host Davidson.
