GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro seniors Scott Jones and Randi Patterson and sophomore Jokull Elisabetarson have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region squads. The awards are voted on by members of the NSCAA.
Jones, the senior from Dallas, TX, earned first-team honors as a midfielder. He is a four-time first-team All-Southern Conference selection and a two-time All-American. Jones finished second on the squad in total points after tallying nine assists and scoring seven goals for the Spartans. He led the team with five game-winners, two of which came in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Jones ended his career at UNCG fifth all-time in assists with 41.
Patterson, a native of Hackensack, NJ, earned second-team honors for the Spartans. The senior forward is a three-time first-team All-Southern conference selection, a two-time All-American and earned Southern Conference Player of the Year twice. In his four seasons at UNCG, he has been the team’s top goal scorer. This season, Patterson finished with 27 points on 13 goals and one assist. Patterson concluded his career fifth all-time in scoring with 141 points and fifth on the school’s career goal list with 61.
Elisabetarson, a sophomore from Reykjavick, Iceland, earned third-team honors. He recorded one goal and two assists, but more importantly, served as anchor at midfield for the Spartans this year. Elisabetarson was one of two players to start all 25 games.
The Spartans finished 16-8-1 this season and captured both the Southern Conference regular season and tournament titles. UNCG also advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s round of 16 for the third straight year.
