GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro dropped in the national rankings this week, but is still ranked in three of the four national men’s soccer polls.
The NSCAA Coaches’ Top 25 debuted on Tuesday and was the only poll that did not still rank the Spartans. Soccer Times lists UNCG at No. 25, down nine spots from the first poll of the regular season. College Soccer News dropped UNCG four spots from No. 13 to No. 17. Soccer America gave the Spartans the biggest drop, but was the poll that had UNCG ranked the highest last week. UNCG went from No. 7 to No. 19 in the Soccer America poll.
The polls were all released before UNCG’s win over Campbell on Tuesday night, 2-0. UNCG’s only match last week was a 3-1 loss to Virginia Commonwealth. The Spartans were ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA’s regional poll this week, which had Campbell ranked No. 7 before last night’s match.
The Spartans will host the UNCG Men’s Soccer Classic this Friday and Sunday. Elon takes on Belmont at 5 pm on Friday, followed by UNCG and UAB at 7:30 pm. On Sunday, Elon faces UAB at 1 pm, while UNCG and UAB square off at approximately 3:15 pm.
