SPARTANBURG, SC – Southern Conference Interim Commissioner Geoff Cabe announced Friday that the men’s soccer match held on Oct. 7 between UNC Greensboro and Davidson has been declared a no contest.
The Spartans were up 4-2 when the game was called with 23:51 to play in regulation due to wet and unplayable field conditions in Greensboro. According to NCAA rules, the game shall be declared a no contest if 70 minutes are not played in the match. The result of the contest and statistics for the match are now void. However, as dictated by NCAA rules any cards issued during the match will count.
The two schools will investigate whether they can reschedule the conference match.
UNC Greensboro officials will have no further comment on the matter.
