UNCG ranked in three of four men’s soccer national polls, sit as high as No. 17 this week

GREENSBORO, NC – After a 1-1 week, UNC Greensboro remained in three of the four national men’s soccer polls, ranking as high as No. 17 this week.

The Spartans are No. 17 in the College Soccer News Top 30, and sit at No. 18 and No. 20, respectively, in the Soccer America and Soccer Times Top 25 polls. UNCG fell out of the NSCAA Top 25, dropping to No. 5 in the NSCAA’s South Region poll.

Last Wednesday, UNCG lost to Wake Forest, 1-0, snapping the Spartans’ six-game winning streak and handing them their third loss to a ranked-opponent this season. UNCG bounced back on Saturday, defeating Wofford, 3-0, to extend its SoCon unbeaten string to 13 consecutive matches and clinch at least a share of its fourth Southern Conference title in nine years as a league member.

UNCG (12-4-0, 5-0-0 SoCon) will try to win the SoCon title outright when it closes out the regular season at Elon on Wednesday night at 7 pm. The Spartans will host either Wofford or Georgia Southern in a SoCon Tournament quarterfinal match Saturday night at 7 pm.
