Men's Golf Takes Part In Wolfpack Intercollegiate Friday & Saturday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team returns to action for the second time this week as they travel to the Wolfpack Intercollegiate hosted by N.C. State at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The 54-hold, two-day event features 12 teams on the par-72 course with live scoring available via Golfstat with a link on www.uncgspartans.com.

Team will play 36 holes on Friday with a shotgun start, followed by the final 18 holes on Saturday with 8 a.m. tees times. Joining the Spartans in the 12-team field will be Boston College, Campbell, East Carolina, Maryland, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, Rhode Island, North Carolina, UNCW, Western Carolina and tournament host N.C. State.
 
Freshman Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) leads the team in the No. 1 spot in the lineup as he is coming off his top performance of the season earlier in the week. Coalson finished eighth overall at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic Tuesday after posting a 3-over par 216 in the 54-hole tournament. He leads the team with a 74.78 strike average through nine rounds this season.
 
Freshman Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) is second on the team with a 74.89 stroke average through three tournaments this year. Haithcock's top finish is a 14th place effort at the VCU Shootout in September when he posted a career-best 223 over three rounds.
 
Sophomore Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) posted a 54-hole score of 226 at the AutoTrader.com tournament where he placed 35th overall.. Ehlert was the Spartans' top returner from last year as he ended with a 74.92 stroke average in 34 rounds as a true freshman. Rounding out the UNCG lineup is senior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) and sophomore Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury).
