Men's Golf Heads To Atlanta For AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf team returns to action Monday as it takes part in the second annual AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia State at the Berkeley Hill Country Club. The 54-hole, two-day event features 16 teams, including three top 50 squads in the Golfweek rankings and will have live scoring available via Golfstat with a link on www.uncgspartans.com.
Following a practice round on Sunday morning and a College-Am benefiting the tournament in the afternoon, teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. The format will be an 8 a.m. shotgun on Monday, with tee times starting at 8 a.m. off the first and tenth tees on Tuesday.
Joining the Spartans in the 16-team field will be Georgia, Chattanooga, Furman, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Old Dominion, South Carolina, Towson, USC Aiken, VCU, Winthrop, Wisconsin and host Georgia State.
Freshman
Luke Haithcock (Burlington, N.C./Williams) leads the Spartans into the tournament has he owns a 74.50 stroke average through two tournaments this year. Haithcock is coming off a 14
th place finish at the VCU Shootout in September when he posted a career-best 223 over three rounds. Classmate
Taylor Coalson (Dobson, N.C./North Surry) is second on the team with a 76.17 stroke average and posted a 38
th place finish at the VCU Shootout.
Sophomore
Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) posted a 54-hole score of 235 at the VCU Shootout. Ehlert was the Spartans' top returner from last year as he ended with a 74.92 stroke average in 34 rounds as a true freshman. Senior
Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) tallied a 75.16 stroke average last season and has a 77.0 stroke average through six rounds this season.
