The men's golf program, under the direction of head coach Terrance Stewart, placed five student-athletes on the SoCon Academic Honor Roll for the 2011-12 academic year. Leading the way was freshman Roy Dixon (Salisbury, N.C./Salisbury) who posted a 3.87 GPA in business administration/political science..
Also making the grades for the men's golf program were senior Kyle Sonday (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) at 3.75, freshman Alex Ehlert (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) at 3.70, senior Will Almand (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) at 3.40 and junior Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines, N.C./Union Pines) at 3.38.

Men’s Golf Earns 2011-12 Team Academic Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's golf program was named an All-Academic Team national recipient by the Golf Coaches Association of America presented by Farmers Insurance (GCAA) Friday. The Spartans are one of 124 teams across all NCAA levels and just one of 68 NCAA Division I teams recognized for having a team GPA of 3.00 or higher. UNCG and Wofford are the only two schools from the Southern Conference represented on the list.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
