MADISON, Miss. – The UNCG men's golf team moved up two spots in the standings on the final day of the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate to finish 13th Tuesday. The Spartans carded a 36-hole team score of 597 (298-299) at the Reunion Golf and Country Club.
Kyle Sonday led the team with a 32nd-place finish, shooting an even par 72 Tuesday for a final score of 146 (74-72).
Alex Ehlert tied for 55th place overall, recording a 150 (74-76). Roy Dixon and Robert Hoadley tied for 62nd after shooting identical scores of 152 (75-77). Will Almand was not far back as he shot a two-round total of 154 (80-74).
Individual champion Jonathan Fly of Memphis shot a 136, winning by two-strokes over UCF's Brad Schneider.
Wichita State won the team title, shooting a cumulative 10-under par 566 for the two-day event. The Shockers held off Central Arkansas, which finished just one stroke behind with a 567.
The tournament was shortened from a 54-hole event to 36 holes after Monday's second round was canceled due to severe weather.
The Spartans will only have three days of rest before getting back on the course Saturday in Tampa, Fla., for the Gary Koch Intercollegiate co-hosted by Auburn and Kentucky.
