Men's golf team wins inaugural Community Service Award
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's men's golf team has claimed the athletic department's inaugural Community Service Award, which recognizes the Spartan athletic team that completes the most community service throughout the academic year.
Coach Terrance Stewart's squad averaged 25.75 community service hours per team member. The team, which recently turned in its best-ever showing at the Southern Conference Championship with a second-place finish, worked with First Tee of the Triad, Triad Youth Golf Foundation, Greensboro Housing Authority and FOX8 Gifts for Kids. Team members also tutored at Northern Elementary School, helped UNCG students with move-in in August and conducted school tours.
UNCG's men's basketball team came in second with 14.63 hours per team member.
