GREENSBORO, N.C. – Prep seniors Roy Dixon and Alex Ehlert have signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Spartans next season, men's golf coach Terrance Stewart announced Wednesday.
Dixon, a native of Salisbury, N.C., won the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2A state tournament for Salisbury High Shool last season with a two-stroke victory. Dixon also won the 2010 Keith Hills Junior Amateur with a two-round total of 139 (72-67) and tied for fourth at the 2010 Keith Hills Amateur.
He is currently ranked 38th in the state by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and 18th in the class of 2011.
Ehlert is a three-time all-conference selection and team MVP for Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, N.C. Ehlert won the NCHSAA Mid East Regional in 2009 and was runner-up at the 2009 CGA Dogwood State Championship.
Ehlert is currently ranked 16th in the state by the TYGA and is ninth in the class of 2011.
Dixon and Ehlert are also excellent students, as they both boast grade point averages over 4.00.
"Alex and Roy are both outstanding student-athletes who will represent UNCG very well," Stewart said. "They can help us win championships."
