Hoadley shoots final round 73 to lead UNCG on final day at Rod Myers Invitational
DURHAM, N.C. – Robert Hoadley shot a final round 73 to lead UNCG to an eighth place finish at the Rod Myers Invitational men's golf tournament on Monday afternoon at The Duke Golf Club.
Hoadley finished 11th in the individual standings, falling out of the top 10 with a costly double-bogey on the final hole of the day. The sophomore from Southern Pines, N.C. finished three shots back in the individual standings. NC State's Albin Choi was able to hold off a tight field for a one-shot win over a trio of golfers. Ten golfers finished with two shots of the lead and 16 were with five strokes of the top of the leaderboard.
Iowa won the team title, leading wire-to-wire. The Hawkeyes finished at 851, five shots better than second place NC State. UNCG shot 299 on Monday to finish at 876, good for eighth place in a logjam of teams in the middle of the standings. Five shots separated five teams for sixth through 10th place.
UNCG returns to action next Monday when it begins defense of its 2009 title at the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
