LEXINGTON, Ky. - UNC Greensboro's Will Bowman finished seventh and Ryan Heisey finished tied for 11th to help the Spartans to a seventh place finish at the UK Bluegrass Invitational men's golf tournament.
Teams finished their second rounds on Sunday morning and UNCG closed it out at 278 to sit in second place. However, the Spartans shot 298 in the final round, dropping to seventh. Seven teams finished within six shots of each other as Murray State edged out the pack with a score of 850, one shot better than Memphis and Auburn.
Bowman finished his second round with a 68 and then shot a 74 in the final round to finish at two-under par 211, five shots off the lead. Heisey had carded his second consecutive round of 70 in finishing out in the morning, then shot a 73 in the final round to close out at 213. Bowman's seventh place finish was his best of the season and the third Top 10 finish of the year.
Auburn's John Stembridge carded a final round 70 to hold on for the one shot win over Memphis' Jonathan Fly. Stembridge finished the tournament at 206.
UNCG returns to action on Sunday when it opens play at the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship.
