Colin Chapman to transfer to UNCG for men's golf

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro’s men’s golf coach Terrance Stewart has announced that Franklin, N.C., native Colin Chapman will be transferring to UNCG and enroll next fall.

Chapman, a product of Franklin High School, spent his freshman season at Division III Oglethrope University. He was a big part of Oglethorpe University winning the Division III national championship this past season, the school’s first national title in any sport. He earned second-team All-American honors this season and first-team all-region honors.

Chapman won a pair of individual titles during the season, including the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate. After that win, he earned SCAC Golfer of the Week honors and eventually went onto All-SCAC selection. He also finished 11th as an individual in the national championship and had a 74.03 stroke average.

“Colin will bring the experience we need to win college events,” said Stewart. “He will have an excellent chance to compete for our starting line-up. I am very happy that Colin has selected UNCG for his future.”

This past season, Chapman was the 25th ranked golfer in all of Division III according to Golfstat. He ranked seventh in the nation in par 3 scoring, No. 23 in par 4 scoring and ninth in par 5 scoring. He was also seventh nationally in fairways hit, eighth in greens in regulation and 10th in putting with GIR.

In high school, Chapman was an all-state selection and a three-time All-Western North Carolina honoree, setting Franklin’s school marks for low round and low season average.
