CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Drew Younts carded a final round 71 to finish tied for fifth and help UNC Greensboro to a seventh-place finish at the Palisades Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
Younts, a sophomore from Stokesdale, NC, recorded his third straight outstanding round by shooting one-under on Tuesday to place fifth individually. He finished seven shots back of individual champion Vincent Nadeau, who left the field well behind on Tuesday. He carded a final round 67 to win by five shots over 36-hole leader Frederic Sundberg of Campbell.
The Spartans wound up seventh in the team standings with a total of 880, tying for seventh with Campbell. Charlotte won the team title at 856, six shots better than VCU and 13 better than Augusta State.
UNCG will next compete in next week’s Southern Conference Championship. Play begins Sunday at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, SC.
