GRASONVILLE, Md. – Darragh Coghlan shot an opening round even-par 72 to lead UNC Greensboro atop the team leaderboard after the first day at the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational hosted by Towson University at Prospect Bay Country Club.
Coghlan, a freshman from Dublin, Ireland, braved the wind and rain in the opening round to shoot 34 on the front side and 38 on the back to record the second best round of the day. Liberty’s John Parker McKoy holds the individual lead after carding an opening round 70, the only sub-par round of the day.
Coghlan is second, just two shots off the lead, and his teammates Nathan Stamey and Will Bowman were four shots back after shooting rounds of 74.
The Spartans recorded a team score of 299 to take the opening round lead. Longwood and Liberty are tied for second, one shot back, followed by James Madison at 306 and Army, Navy and Georgetown at 307.
Play concludes with Sunday’s final round.
