Spartans finish 14th at VCU/Mattaponi Springs Shootout

RUTHER GLEN, Va. – UNC Greensboro’s David Heyen shot a final round 72 as the Spartans wound up 14th at the VCU/Mattaponi Springs Shootout Tuesday afternoon.

After a pair of tough rounds on Monday, Heyen rallied to shoot even-par on Tuesday for the Spartans. J.D. Bass was the top individual finisher for UNCG, finishing in a tie for 34th place after shooting a final round 76.

Penn State and Louisville tied for the team title, tying in their one-hole playoff. Wisconsin’s Dan Woltman fired a final round 67 to finish an amazing 14-under par for the tournament and win by three shots over Kent State’s Marc Bourgeois for top individual honors.

UNCG returns to action next Monday when it plays in the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club.
